31/365 Guest Blogger Binx

Hi fans of Mom's blog.   Tonight was a special night because mom, let me cuddle in her lap as she worked on today's post.   We were having so much fun she wanted to take a picture. That's me in the bottom right.

I know it's kind hard to see me there. Mom tried to use a cookie to get my attention. Oh boy did that work!

By the way this is the face Mom makes when I've had enough fooling around and snatch the treat out of her hand.  (PS It was yummy. )

I've had my eye on the weather today. Nearly 70 degree weather in January just isn't right.  Tomorrow the temp is supposed to drop around 30 degrees over the course of the day.   Severe weather is also in the mix.    Its days like this that I can't help but be reminded of how powerful mother nature can me. Less than a year ago a tornado all but wiped this little town of West Liberty, KY off the map.

26/365

The cold weather has settled in, and while most people grumble and complain about the cold, the wind, and the snow and ice,  the cold has it plus side.  Every year I look forward a little bit to the opportunity to  get to wear one of my favorite items of clothing...this coat.

coat

I picked it up years ago, on one of the hottest days of the year.  It seemed rather silly to be buying a winter coat in the middle of August, but I fell in love with all the embroidery and the details. I had to have it.   So now when it's cold and snowy out.I simply smile and say "Yay, I get to wear my pretty coat!"

25/365

Twice this week I've been reminded of this event from last year.

I've heard of murmuration, but I've thought it was only associated with starling.  Last January while I was on my way to St. Louis I witnessed this strange event.

The birds appeared to be some sort of water fowl.  We saw them sort of swarm near a creek.

Then they would break off in sections and cross the highway.

Then they would birds would break up into small groups. Some of the groups would head back to the creek.  While the rest thinned out into v-shaped strains.

Eventually they all took a v-formation and headed southeast.

They streaked and floated across the sky in such a way that they reminded me of ink swirling through a glass of water.

They're forecasting snow tomorrow.   We probably won't get much, but I'd be happy to see the Little House look like this again. :)

The perfect snack and for working on my photos.

22/365 oops

They say it takes 21 days to form a new habit. I thought I was home free. I made it 21 days into the new year and didn't miss a post to my blog.  Yeah, I may have made many of my posts in the eleventh hour but still I didn't miss.

Then hit day #22. I completely forgot.  Well it was bound to happen.

It wasn't my only oops this week.

Oops

Oh well....

My coffee mug says it all today.

What's kept me going this week.

Opps! I've already shared this one..... Learning a new way to enjoy my daily brew.

You can never have too much coffee....not this week anyway.

16/365 things that make me happy

Yes another shoe shot.   I went bowling over the weekend and I realized my bowling shoes (yes, I have my own shoes) were plain old black. Booooooooring.   So with the help of some white electrical tape, a sharpie and some new laces I made them  a little more my style.

15/365 things that bring me joy -sparkles

By know if you have looked at my blog you know I have a thing for Converse shoes.   You may not know that I love sparkle...glitter, sequins, crystals (ha!) you name it.  I've even been lobbying for a while now for a disco ball in my office at work.

This year I received this pair as a Christmas gift.  Pink and sparkly?  Whoo Hoo!  The color pink has extra significance to me now.  Just before Thanksgiving my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Her prognosis is extremely good, but she will still be undergoing certain treatments.   Today, she began her six week course of radiation.  I wore these as a dedication to her.

It occurred to me after the fact that I was standing on no less than 4 cracks. I hope that old childhood superstition isn't true. Mom? How's your back?

12/365 -- Things that bring me JOY

Six years ago this weekend I became a mom....a dog mom.  It was love at first sight.  This face has made me laugh, cry, smile, and frown.  She has taught me what unconditional love is and what it is like to want to put your own needs aside for what is best for your little one...be them two legged or four.

5 years with B

Sure without her I'd probably have more money the bank, less holes in the yard and certainly the garter snake population would be higher here, but I wouldn't change anything.

11/365 My plan for tomorrow.

Guiness

Today was a rather strange day, and I almost didn't get to post my picture, but I 'm squeaking it in under the wire.  Tomorrow I'm planning a night out with some friends. We're meeting at a local pub, and I think a pint of one of these will be in order.

9/365 from the PhotogBlog

I thought for my second preview I'd take a slightly different approach.  My first preview image had a lot of drama. So much so, that many people asked me it was real.   (Yes. Yes! YES!  It was real. I promise. Cross my heart and hope to die.)

And while I love to capture those BIG moments, I also love to catch those other very real moment, like this one. This is also very much Chris and Claire.

2/365- Big Things

In 2012 I was able to cross a few more items off my bucket list. The biggest of these was to see the Grand Canyon.  So in May Mr. Boyfriend and I took trip to Arizona.  As I looked out from the southern rim, it was hard to believe that what I was seeing was real.  We all joked that it wasn't. "It's all CG. That's all."

I tried to wrap my head around how many million years it took for water to carve out this vast space.  After a while I had to give up. My poor brain sometimes can't handle things of that magnitude.

I'm the tiny purplish spec in the middle.

PS. Another thing I'm having a hard time fulling comprehending is the fact that in a little over a 48 hour time period, over half a million people viewed one of my photos.  That's just insane.   We can thank Mr. Boyfriend for that too. He's the one that posted it.

Something new for 2013

Many of my friends have done various forms of a project 365 (366) and I'm completely in awe of their dedication to taking and posting a photo every day for a whole year.  I've tried a couple times to do a Project 52, simply posting a photo once a week.  I failed miserably.  Taking the photos isn't the problem, getting them shared is another story. Consequently I have thousands of photos built up on harddrives that never get seen by anyone other than me.   :(

So this year I'm trying something different. I'm going to try a Reverse 365, where everyday I post photos from the years past.  This could be fun. Let's give it a try.  I make no promises (based on my past attempts.)  If this time next year I have 365 photo posted on the little blog.  It will be a...
